Ex-U.S. President George H.W. Bush in Maine for summer

WASHINGTON, May 21 (Xinhua) -- Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush has returned to his family compound in the state of Maine for the coming summer, according to his spokesman.

Bush, 93, arrived at the family's summer vacation home in Kennebunkport Sunday evening, where well-wishers greeted his motorcade at the town's Dock Square, according to tweets by his spokesman Jim McGrath.

Friends of the nation's 41st president said that he had been eager to get to Maine after his wife, Barbara, died last month.

The elder Bush, who was president from 1989 to 1993, was recently hospitalized for two weeks with a blood infection after Barbara's funeral.

Bush has spent part of every summer in Kennebunkport since childhood except during the World War II, when he served as a naval aviator. Enditem
