RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazil's Chief Prosecution Office denounced on Monday former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to the Supreme Federal Court for fresh corruption charges.

It also denounced Lula's finance minister Antonio Palocci and planning minister Paulo Bernardo, and Senator Gleisi Hoffmann, current leader of the Workers' Party that Lula founded for the same accusations.(Brazil-Lula-Prosecution)

SEOUL -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in asked the United Nations to observe the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s planned shutdown of its nuclear test site, the Blue House of South Korea said Tuesday.

Kim Eui-kyeom, spokesman for Moon, told a press briefing that Moon had a phone conversation with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres for half an hour from 11:30 a.m. local time (0230 GMT) to exchange opinions about the result of the third inter-Korean summit last week. (S.Korea-DPRK-Test Site)

SANTO DOMINGO -- The Dominican Republic's government late Monday announced that it established diplomatic ties with China.

WASHINGTON -- The White House on Monday announced that the steel and aluminum tariff exemptions for EU member countries, Canada and Mexico will be extended until June 1 in order to give "a final 30 days" for them to reach agreements over trade negotiations.
