JAKARTA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian skateboarding association (PB Perserosi) has set a target of three gold medals in roller sports at the Asian Games this year.
Two medals are expected to be secured from skateboarding and the other in the roller skating event.
For skateboarding, the association will send the skaters to the United States to train before competing in the Asian Games.
Eight of the skateboarders will head to the United States, according to Yudi A. Toengkagie, the coach of the national skateboarding team.
The training and the try-out matches will take place in Los Angeles.
"The athletes will train and have friendly matches there. [The training camp] aims to boost their fighting spirit for competing in international competitions," Yudi said.
Roller sport is scheduled to be played in Jakabaring Sport City in Palembang, the provincial capital of South Sumatra, and Saparua Sport Stadium in Bandung, the provincial capital of West Java.
The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) has decided to include roller sports in the 2018 Asian Games because skateboarding will be included in the Olympics in Tokyo in 2020.
The 18th Asian Games is scheduled to be held in the Indonesian capital Jakarta and Palembang city in August. Enditem
