Pakistani forces foil major terrorist plots in tribal area: army

ISLAMABAD, April 10 (Xinhua) -- The Pakistani army said Tuesday that security forces have foiled three major terrorist activities in a tribal region near the country's border with Afghanistan.
A special intelligence-based operation was carried out by the security forces along with intelligence agencies in Kurram Agency, against terrorist networks involved in three major terrorist activities in the main town of Parachinar, an army statement said.
The terrorists had planned suicide bombing with vehicle- borne improvised explosive Devices, the statement from the army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said.
Huge quantity of arms and ammunition, explosives, bombs, IEDs and mines were recovered from an underground dugout of the terrorist networks, according to the statement.
"Busting of these terrorist networks and apprehensions of three terrorists revealed that these networks were also involved in illegal weapons, ammunition and explosives dealing and smuggling inside Kurram Agency," the statement said. Enditem
