Indonesia to build integrated sport center to facilitate training

Xinhua,March 27, 2018 Adjust font size:

JAKARTA, March 27 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian sport ministry plans to establish a huge and integrated sport center which can facilitate training of athletes from all sports, a sports ministry official has confirmed.

Indonesian Youth and Sport Minister Imam Nahrawi made the announcement on Tuesday.

The center is planned to be constructed in Cibubur near the country's capital of Jakarta, the minister said.

"Advanced nations already have Olympic centers. We must have an integrated national training center," minister Nahrawi disclosed on Monday night.

Under the planned program, the minister said that all the activities of athletes would be supervised intensively.

He explained that currently, athletes from different sport branches take their training in separate places, which hampers officials' efforts in monitoring the development and progress of the athletes, especially as players prepare for multinational sport events such as the Asian Games, the Olympics and Southeast Asian Games.
