Afghan media hail Tashkent conference an opportunity for bolstering peace efforts

Xinhua,March 27, 2018 Adjust font size:

KABUL, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Afghan media on Tuesday hailed the Tashkent Conference on Afghanistan as an opportunity for bolstering peace efforts and national reconciliation process in the militancy-battered country.

The conference offered an opportunity to find ways and means for stabilizing peace in the war-battered country, the newspaper Daily Etilaatroz said in its editorial on Tuesday.

Terming extremism as a threat to the region, the paper warned, "The presence of extremist groups in Afghanistan, if go unchecked, would destabilize the whole region including central Asian countries."

Another newspaper, the Daily Afghanistan-e-Ma also appreciated Tashkent for hosting the international conference on Afghanistan, saying that it is an important step towards bolstering the peace process in the war-torn country.

"Afghanistan and central Asian states have common interests and therefore peace and stability in central Asian countries is linked to the durable peace in Afghanistan," the paper said.

Afghan television channels in their reports and comments also described the Tashkent conference on Afghanistan as significant in strengthening the peace process in the country. Enditem
