New record sales for Dutch chip equipment producer ASML

THE HAGUE, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- ASML posted a record net sales of 9.05 billion euros (11.08 billion U.S. dollars) in 2017, the Dutch chip equipment producer announced Wednesday.

It refreshed the net sales record of the company in 2016 when 6.8 billion euros sales were completed.

Net income also rose from 1.47 billion euros in 2016 to 2.12 billion euros in 2017.

In the fourth quarter of 2017, net sales amounted to 2.56 billion euros, compared to 1.91 billion euros in the same period last year. Net income rose to 644 million euros in the fourth quarter, compared to 524 million euros in the equivalent period of 2016.

"These results reflect our technology leadership and the success of our comprehensive product portfolio as well as the strong growth fundamentals in our industry, which enable the continued innovation in personal electronics, artificial intelligence, cloud computing and mobility," said CEO Peter Wennink.

"For 2018 we expect continued solid growth of sales and profitability," he said. Enditem
