Mongolia's population hits 3.2 mln

Xinhua,January 17, 2018 Adjust font size:

ULAN BATOR, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's population reached 3.2 million by December 2017, a 1.9 percent increase compared to 2016, the National Statistical Office of Mongolia said in a preliminary report Tuesday.

Men comprise 49 percent of the population while women make up the remaining 51 percent. The life expectancy for women is 73.34 years and for men, 65.09 years.

High consumption of tobacco and alcohol by men, resulting in diseases such as lung and liver cancer and cardiovascular problems, is considered to be the reason Mongolian men have a shorter lifespan than women on average. Enditem
