RIYADH, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Saudi air force intercepted on Tuesday a ballistic missile fired by Houthi militants in Yemen targeting the southern province of Jazan, Al Arabiya local news reported.

The missile was intercepted and destroyed at 8:20 p.m. local time (1720 GMT), while no injuries or damages were reported, the news website confirmed.

The fresh attack comes few days after UN experts accused Iran of violating a UN arms embargo by directly or indirectly providing missiles and drones to the Houthis in Yemen.

The Saudi-led coalition involved in the war in Yemen has also accused Iran of backing Houthis and standing behind the crisis in Yemen. Enditem
