JOHANNESBURG, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- The African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday said they would like to see some action in renewing the party and addressing the problems affecting the people in the country this year.
Ramaphosa was addressing party members in Soweto after vising Nelson Mandela's former wife, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela who is ill. He said they held some meetings as the ANC's top six leaders discussed unity, renewal and delivery in creating jobs.
"This is the year of renewal, year of unity and year of creating jobs. Comrades, this year we are focusing on most important issues. This is the year of action and the year of implementation of the decisions of the conference. You will see a lot of action this year...Forward with action forward," said Ramaphosa.
He stated that the ANC top six leaders are united and working to promote unity. Ramaphosa said the leadership which the people elected in the last congress is a "formidable" one and the top six leaders are eager to address the problems affecting the people. He said while the prophets of doom thought they would be fighting, there is unity in the ANC leadership.
The ANC president said their visit to Soweto is part of their program of visiting and laying wreaths on the late ANC leaders. Enditem
