German shares close flat Monday

FRANKFURT, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- German stocks closed flat on Monday, with the benchmark DAX index down 44.52 points, or 0.34 percent, to close at 13,200.51 points.

German airlines Lufthansa lost 3.59 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by and multinational building materials company HeidelbergCement and renal dialysis equipment supplier Fresenius Medical, which lost 1.10 and 0.85 percent respectively.

European mass media company ProSiebenSat.1 gained 2.78 percent, becoming the top gainer. Pharmaceutical company Merck advanced 0.99 percent. Energy group RWE went up by 0.70 percent.

Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens was the most traded share with a turnover of 191.55 million euros (235.16 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
