Olympic champion Shiffrin of America dominates women's slalom in Flachau World Cup

VIENNA, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- American Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin claimed her eighth win in nine World Cup races as she won women's slalom in Flachau.

Shiffrin, 22, three-time world slalom champion, won the race in one minute 50.86 seconds. It was also her fifth win in a row and third victory.

Austria's Bernadette Schild was second in 1:51.80, while Sweden's Frida Hansdotter came third with 1:52.29.

Shiffrin drew level with Austrian great Annemarie Moser-Proell, who earned 41 of her 62 World Cup wins before the age of 23, and will have several chances to better that mark before her birthday on March 13. Enditem
