WARSAW, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Polish President Andrzej Duda on Tuesday appointed new ministers of cabinet at the request of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
During the ceremony, Duda appointed Jacek Czaputowicz as minister of foreign affairs, replacing Witold Waszczykowski.
Mariusz Blaszczak, former minister of interior and administration, was appointed as minister of national defense, replacing Antoni Macierewicz. Joachim Brudzinski replaced Blaszczak as minister of interior and administration.
Teresa Czerwinska has been appointed as the new minister of finance, while Jerzy Kwiecinski has been appointed the minister of investments and development.
Jadwiga Emilewicz is the new minister of entrepreneurship and technologies.
Other appointments included Andrzej Adamczyk as minister of infrastructure, Lukasz Szumowski as minister of health as well as Henryk Kowalczyk as minister of environment.
Morawiecki emphasized he wanted a government that connects the economy with society.
The changes in cabinet were done as Morawiecki prepares for a visit to Brussels for talks with top European Union officials.
According to some local media, the reshuffle may be an attempt to avert possible EU sanctions against Poland over judicial reform and an example of goodwill and openness for dialogue. Enditem
