Indonesia's Yordan to face British fighter Campbell

Xinhua,January 09, 2018 Adjust font size:

JAKARTA, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian boxer Daud Cino Yordan will fight against Britain's Luke Campbell in London on Feb. 24, a manager disclosed on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old Daud is the former IBO featherweight and lightweight champion, while Campbell is a former WBA lightweight champion.

The bout will determine the world's rank of the fighters and the winner will have opportunity to challenge WBA champion, Jorge Linares from Venezuela, manager of Yordan Urgyen Rinchen Sim said.

For preparation, Daud is now practicing in Legono of Spain, he said.

"On Tuesday, Daud kicked off light practicing for adjustment. Certainly we do not have much time left. We have targeted to win the bout in order to get opportunity to challenge the world champion," the manager was quoted by Tempo media as saying.

With 37 wins (25 KOs) and three losses, Daud is ranked 10th in the lightweight category.

Urgyen said that the fight will not be easy for Daud as it will take pace in Campbell's country.

Besides, he is a popular fighter in Britain due to his 2012 Olympic championship in London, added Urgyen. Enditem
