DAR ES SALAAM, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania's annual inflation rate dropped to 4 percent in December 2017 from 4.4 percent in November due to decreased prices of food, Tanzanian National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on Tuesday.
"This decrease in headline inflation explains that the speed of price change for commodities in December last year has decreased compared to that in November," NBS said in a statement.
The monthly inflation was 0.2 percent in December, compared with 0.5 percent in November, according to the statement.
The statement said annual inflation rate for food consumed at home and away from home decreased to 6.7 percent in December from 7.9 percent recorded in November.
The index change for non-food products slightly decreased to 2.8 percent in December 2017 from 2.9 percent recorded in November 2017, said the statement. Enditem
