TORONTO, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- A man was shot dead in a residential area of the Toronto suburb early Saturday after "interaction" with police, according to Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) report.

Police were called to a "disturbance" at a residence in the suburb of Toronto early Saturday.

When police arrived at the scene, the man with a gun had already left the residence and was later located a short distance west of the area of the original call.

Upon police locating the man, there was a shooting. One of the policemen discharged his firearm. The man was apparently struck and transported to a hospital in Toronto and was pronounced dead in hospital later.

The fatal shooting, which occurred outside a home in a residential area, is under investigation by the police. Enditem
