1st LD: Fire engulfs 12-storey block in Manchester

LONDON, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Firefighters are tackling a blaze in a 12-storey apartment block in Manchester city center on Saturday.

It is not known whether there have been any casualties.

A spokesman for Manchester Fire said the ninth and 10th floors were on fire and 12 engines are at the scene.

Local police has closed part of the roads and advised people to avoid the area.

The incident came months after the Grenfell Tower fire claimed 71 in London. Enditem
