LUSAKA, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Zambia's year on year inflation slowed to 6.1 percent in December from 6.3 percent in November, its statistics agency said on Thursday.

The Central Statistical Office (CSO) attributed the decrease to both food and non-food items.

Of the total 6.1 percent annual inflation rate recorded in December 2017, food and non-alcoholic beverages accounted for 2.6 percentage points, while non-food items accounted for a total of 3.5 percentage points, said John Kalumbi, the director of the statistics agency during a monthly press briefing.

On the other hand, the month-on-month inflation reduced to 0.7 percent in December compared to 1.4 percent recorded in November, he added. Enditem
