BELGRADE, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Serbian Red Star lost to Greek Panathinaikos by 69-63 in the 14th round of the regular season of the basketball Euroleague on Thursday.

The two teams begun the match evenly with a slight advantage for the Greeks at the half-time, 41-39, led by points of James Gist and Marcus Denmon.

Panathinaikos continued with their initiative in the third quarter that they won by 17-11, and managed to maintain their lead until the end of the match, despite a good scoring streak of Red Star in the fourth quarter.

The victory was achieved in a tight finish, with home team lagging behind just three points, one minute before the end of the match, mostly thanks to several missed three-pointers of Red Star, and precise free-throws of Panathinaikos.

Best among the Greeks were Gist (16) and Denmon (16) while James Feldeine shined in the ranks of Red Star with 21 points.

Next week Panathinaikos will play against Valencia, while Red Star will face Armani. Enditem
