MAPUTO, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi said Thursday in Maputo, that the year 2018 brings hope of economic recovery, social and financial stability which will lead to increased domestic and foreign investment in the country.

Speaking on the annual toast of the end of the year, with the communities from home and abroad and diplomats in the country, Filipe Nyusi considered that the macroeconomic stability will require a lot of work, determination and unity of all.

"Each of us is called to renew the commitment to better serve the people in order to fulfill individual and collective expectations," said the president.

In a speech with a mixture of optimism and skepticism, the head of state warned that the difficult times of the economy could prevail or be even more severe and complex.

However, he also said that the courageous Mozambicans will find bold and structured solutions to move out from the current state of survival to a nation of prosperity.

"We will continue to work to keep the country in peace, stable and on the road to progress, consolidating democracy and state institutions, guaranteeing freedom of expression for an inclusive society," he said.

Referring to the year about to end, Nyusi pointed out that the government's work has been based on the incessant search for effective peace, stability and social inclusion and fight against corruption.

Nyusi added his government's efforts focused on the mobilization of society in general, and on the production and productivity, especially in the agricultural area.

"Our journey has established itself in open and inclusive dialogue with all the living forces of society, because we assume that the richness of our country is the diversity that characterizes us. It is this diversity that maps our nation where we seek the tonic that leads us to recognize difference as a crucial element of our unity," he stressed. Enditem
