Egypt rejects Sudan's sovereignty claims over disputed territories

Xinhua,December 22, 2017 Adjust font size:

CAIRO, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Egypt rejected on Thursday Sudan's letter to the United Nations that Egypt was occupying Sudanese territories.

In a statement, Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid asserted Egypt's rejection of a letter sent by the Sudanese Foreign Ministry to the UN concerning Sudan's sovereignty on disputed areas of Halayeb and Shalateen.

Egypt would send a letter to the UN secretariat to deplore Sudan's letter, he added.

The spokesman said the letter will underline Egypt's sovereignty over Halayeb and Shalateen areas which are under Egypt's sovereignty and inhabited by Egyptian citizens. Enditem
