VIENNA, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Austria's New Chancellor Sebastian Kurz made his first address to parliament in his new role on Wednesday, reiterating his plan to bring about a "comeback" for the country ,and a new style of governance.

He said the government plans to create an Austria that "we are all proud of and from which everyone in the country can benefit."

Kurz, the People's Party leader, was sworn-in to his leadership role on Monday.

He appealed for trust in the government's "new way," and said it will not have seen its agenda through until Austria is in a better position than it is today.

Kurz further made an acknowledgment that Austria's history be kept in mind, including the darker chapters of the 1930s, as well as an affirmation of the importance of Europe for the country.

He also thanked Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen for his participation in the coalition negotiations over the past two months, as well as former coalition partner the Social Democrats, for a professional handover of the ministries it held over the past legislative period. Enditem
