Singapore stocks close 0.28 pct lower

SINGAPORE, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) closed down 0.28 percent or 9.6 points to close at 3394.87.

A total of 1.43 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.04 billion Singapore dollars (about 770 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 237 to 161.

The STI index closed down 0.3 percent or 10.35 points to close at 3404.47 on Tuesday. Enditem
