ISLAMABAD, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces on Wednesday successfully foiled a terror attack targeting the Balochistan provincial governor and arrested two terrorists during a raid in the Pakistani province, an official said.

Balochistan Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that two suspected suicide attackers were arrested for making a plan to attack Balochistan Governor Muhammad Khan Achakzai in the Gulistan area of Killa Abdullah in the province.

The security forces also seized two suicide vests along with a huge amount of arms and ammunitions, said Bugti.

The terror plot was crafted in Afghanistan and the timely action had saved many lives, the provincial home minister said, adding that the detainees belong to the group involved in a suicide attack on Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada back in August, 2015, which killed 22 people including Shuja Khanzada.

The operation came days after four suicide bombers attacked a church in the provincial capital of Quetta, killing nine people and injuring some 57 others.

Two terror attacks had been foiled by security forces so far after the Quetta church attack. Enditem
