Indian markets close higher

MUMBAI, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Indian markets closed higher Monday as latest elections results indicated that Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) will form its government in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

Equity benchmarks were off day's high a bit in last hour of trading session due to correction in ITC, Infosys and HDFC. Select private banks, too, were off day's high.

The benchmark SP&BSE Sensex closed at 33,601.68, up 138.71 points, or 0.41 percent, compared to its previous close at 33,462.97. Enditem
