SANTIAGO -- Right-wing candidate and former president, Sebastian Pinera, was elected president of Chile for the second time on Sunday.

With 96.31 percent of votes counted, according to Chile's electoral service (Servel), Pinera held 54.57 percent of the vote, against the center-left candidate Alejandro Guillier, with 45.43 percent. (Chile-Elections)

TRIPOLI -- Limited demonstrations took place on Sunday in the Libyan capital of Tripoli and the eastern city of Benghazi against the UN-backed government.

In central Tripoli, dozens of Libyans protested against the Government of National Accord, describing it as "expired." (Libya-Protest)

JERUSALEM -- Two rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel on Sunday night, with at least one of them hitting an area of a community in southern Israel without causing damage or injuries, Israel's military said.

MOSCOW -- Russian President Vladimir Putin called U.S. President Donald Trump to express gratitude to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)'s information that helped foil terrorist attack attempts in St. Petersburg, the Kremlin said on Sunday.

Russia's Federal Security Service said Friday that it detained seven Islamic State supporters earlier this week for plotting to blow up the famous Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg, the second largest city in Russia. (Russia-U.S.-Antiterrorism)

KIEV -- Dozens were hurt on Sunday in clashes in central Kiev between police and activists during the protest calling for the impeachment of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, authorities said.

Zoryan Shkiryak, an adviser to Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, said in an interview to the local 112 TV channel that at least 30 law enforcement officers injured in the clashes. (Clash-Protest) Enditem
