Afghan police checkpoints attacked in southern Afghanistan

KABUL, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- Taliban militants have reportedly launched attacks against police outposts outside Lashkar Gah, the capital city of the southern Helmand province, a local television channel Arianan News reported on Sunday.

According to the media outlet, both the Taliban militants and Afghan government forces have suffered casualties in the battles.

Helmand provincial government officials have yet to make comments on the report. Enditem
