Guangdong beats Fujian to stop losing streak

BEIJING, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- Former NBA player Yi Jianlian contributed 10 points while another four players added double-digit points to help Guangdong beat Fujian 92-86 in the 16th round of the 2017-2018 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Friday night.

The CBA powerhouse Guangdong lost to Aolong and Beijing in the last two rounds. Facing Fujian, Guangdong played aggressively and took the lead from the beginning. Although Russ Smith of Fujian tried to cut the gap with three-pointers, Guangdong had a more effective offence throughout the game.

Russ Smith earned a game-high 33 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Andrew Nicholson of Guangdong got a team-high 25 points, following by Zhou Peng's 20 points.

Sichuan suffered another defeat as they lost to Beijing 96-98. Jamaal Franklin of Sichuan contributed 38 points but missed the final shot.

In other matches played on Friday, Liaoning smashed Shanghai 98-79, Guangzhou beat Zhejiang 91-88, Shandong won over Tongxi 111-100, and Shenzhen crushed Jilin 129-118. Enditem
