EU accession remains Macedonia's top priority for 2018: FM

Xinhua,December 15, 2017 Adjust font size:

SKOPJE, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- The accession to the European Union (EU) remains a top priority of Macedonia's foreign policy, Macedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov said late Thursday.

Addressing a reception grouping representatives of the diplomatic corps here, Dimitrov said that the government's political will and orientation towards reform, along with the support of friends and partners, should lead to an unconditional recommendation and the launch of EU accession talks for Macedonia next spring.

The foreign minister said EU integration was first and foremost in the interest of Macedonia's citizens, but also in the interest of the countries in the region and beyond.

Further, Dimitrov informed the diplomats that Macedonia was also committed to Euro-Atlantic integration, and wanted to contribute more on the multilateral scene. Enditem
