LAGOS, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria's weightlifting governing body Thursday said it has invited 12 weightlifters for a closed camping program ahead of the 2018 Commonwealth Games slated for Gold Coast in Australia in April.

Seven female and five male weightlifters have been invited to the camp that is expected to hold in three phases in Abuja, capital of Nigeria, Umar Lambu, secretary of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF) told reporters in Abuja.

Lambu said the first phase of camping would begin on Sunday and end on Jan. 16, while the second phase will be from Jan. 17 to Feb. 16 and the third phase will hold from Feb. 17 to Feb. 28.

The secretary said the weightlifters would embark on training tours of Europe ahead of the games from March 1 to March 30.

The 2018 Commonwealth Games will hold from April 4 to April 15. Enditem
