MADRID -- Spanish Maritime Rescue Services confirmed that one person has died and 114 others were rescued from six inflatable dinghies close to the Isle of Alboran in the Mediterranean Sea between Morocco and Spain on Thursday.

The victim and all of those rescued are from sub-Saharan Africa and were attempting to make the crossing from North Africa to Europe. (Spain-Rescue)

RAMALLAH/GAZA -- The Palestinian government called Thursday for international protection of the the Palestinian people over "the continued escalation due to the occupation."

Government spokesperson Yousef Al-Mahmoud denounced the "incursion of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Jewish groups" besides the Israeli raids into two university campuses in the West Bank where it seized documents and books, according to a press statement. (Palestinians-Israel-Tension)

PYONGYANG -- Nuclear and missile developers of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) have vowed to continue bolstering the country's nuclear force "in quality and quantity," the state media said Thursday.

"National defense scientists and technicians will ... further strengthen the state nuclear force in quality and quantity," the DPRK's nuclear and missile developers said in a pledge letter, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). (DPRK-Nuclear Development)

MOGADISHU -- The death toll in the early Thursday suicide bombing attack at General Kahiye Police Academy in Mogadishu has risen to 13 while 15 others were injured.

Aamin Ambulance Director Abdukadir Abdirahman told Xinhua they had ferried 13 bodies to the city's Medina Hospital.

"A total of 13 bodies from the attack are now in Medina Hospital. Another 15 were injured and receiving medical treatment," he said. (Somalia-Bombing) Enditem
