Macedonian minister steps down for MP seat

Xinhua,December 14, 2017 Adjust font size:

SKOPJE, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Samka Ibraimovski, Macedonia's minister in charge of strategy implementation for improving the situation of the Roma, announced on Thursday his decision to step down.

He signed a statement in the State Election Commission (SEC) for accepting the MP seat, Ibraimovski's office said in a press release.

Ibraimovski also told media here that he left the ministerial post for an MP seat because Roma did not have a representative in the parliament.

In the last parliamentary elections, Ibraimovski was on the candidate list of SDSM-led coalition in the 4th electoral unit. Now he will replace in the parliament SDSM's Vasko Kovacevski who resigned from the MP post after assuming post of general director of Energy Combine Bitola.

Meantime, local media reported that other changes were expected to take place in Prime Minister Zoran Zaev's cabinet.

The Alliance of Albanians will probably end its participation in the coalition, with SDSM assuming the health sector, Macedonian Information Agency (MIA) reported. Enditem
