Turkey issues warrants for 135 people over links to Gulenists

ANKARA, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Turkey issued warrants on Wednesday for 135 people, including soldiers and civil servants, over their suspected links to Gulenists, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

Prosecutors in the central province of Konya issued warrants for 70 soldiers served in land and naval forces, including 23 dismissed from duty since the July 15 coup attempt last year.

The operation has been launched across 34 provinces to seize the suspects.

In the Mediterranean province of Antalya, prosecutors issued arrest warrants for 65 suspects, including 35 civil servants, 25 security officers, and four civilians.

Fethullah Gulen, a U.S.-based preacher, is accused by Ankara of orchestrating the failed coup attempt, in which at least 250 people were killed and over 2,000 people were injured.

The Turkish government declared a state of emergency and launched a massive crackdown on Gulen's supporters in the coup-attempt aftermath. Enditem
