Trump's senior aide Omarosa Newman resigns

Xinhua,December 14, 2017 Adjust font size:

WASHINGTON, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Omarosa Manigault Newman, a senior African-American aide to U.S. President Donald Trump, has resigned, the White House said Wednesday.

Newman resigned Tuesday "to pursue other opportunities," said White House Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Newman's departure will be effective on Jan. 20 next year, exactly one year into the Trump presidency, according to Sanders.

The 43-year-old was seen as the most prominent African-American face of Trump's White House, working on outreach to historically black colleges and universities and racial disparities in the military justice system.

She was a former contestant on "The Apprentice" television show before becoming a senior aide to Trump. Her official title was assistant to the president and director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison. Enditem
