Iran in talks with Airbus, Boeing for financing plane purchase

Xinhua,December 14, 2017 Adjust font size:

TEHRAN, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Executives from aircraft manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing, are due to arrive in Tehran next week to negotiate and decide on the financing of Iran's newly-purchased passenger airplanes, Financial Tribune daily reported on Wednesday.

The Iranian airline has reached promising conclusions regarding the financiers of the plane deals, Massoumeh Asgharzadeh, the head of Iran Air Public Relations Office, was quoted as saying.

"Our preference is to use domestic financial resources, but we also have the option to finance the purchases through Airbus and Boeing themselves," Asgharzadeh said.

The result of negotiations will soon be publicized, she added.

Iran Air has ordered 100 airplanes from Airbus and 80 from Boeing.

The Iranian flag carrier has received three Airbus planes so far. Enditem
