CAIRO, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- Egypt on Tuesday condemned a terrorist blast which hit midtown Manhattan near New York Port Authority terminal.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry stressed solidarity of the Egyptian government and people with the U.S. government and people in the wake of the attack, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

"Such terrorist acts and extremist ideologies they reflect, and the degradation of human dignity are a blatant violation of laws and human principles," the statement said.

It highlighted the need for the international community to develop a comprehensive international strategy to eliminate terrorism and extremism in all its forms and combat extremist ideology in order to enhance the international peace and security.

On Monday, a man set off an improvised explosive device at New York City's commuter hub during the rush hour, leading to four injuries.
