Qatar gears up to celebrate national day despite siege

DOHA, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- Qatar started preparations for its national day on Saturday evening despite the ongoing blockade, as streets and public places are decorated, and celebrating activities began.

The celebrations are under the motto of "Promise of Prosperity and Glory," which will mark Qatar's National Day on Dec. 18.

The celebrations at Darb Al Saai will consist of several events and activities from Dec. 9-20, with a number of governmental and non-governmental bodies participating.

Meanwhile, Qatar's Minister of State for Defense Affairs Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah inaugurated the Ministry of Defence pavilion -- the Defence Camp, which is considered as the first participation in such activities. Enditem
