JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- A commander of local police was killed and four others sustained injuries as a roadside bomb struck a police van in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday, spokesman for provincial government Attaullah Khogiani said.

"A mine planted by enemies on a road in Khogiani district struck the vehicle of Habib Rahman the commander of local police, killing him on the spot and injuring four others including a civilian today afternoon," Khogiani told reporters here.

The official said investigation is underway, without providing more details. Enditem
