Update: 1 Palestinian killed in clashes with Israeli soldiers

Xinhua,December 08, 2017 Adjust font size:

GAZA, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the Gaza Health Ministry, told reporters Friday that one Palestinian man was killed and over 250 injured in clashes with Israeli soldiers.

Al-Qedra said all had been shot with live ammunition, and most of them were shot in the lower parts of their bodies.

He said all of them were evacuated to the hospitals all over the Gaza Strip, adding that dozens suffocated after inhaling tear gas fired by the soldiers on the borders between Gaza Strip and Israel.

In Gaza city, the streets are scattered with the flags of Israel and the U.S. in rejection to the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to consider Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The public walked on the flags in protest to Trump's declaration.

Palestinians protested Friday throughout Palestinian territories in response to calls made by various Palestinian factions and political powers, including Hamas movement and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Fatah Party.

The status of Jerusalem is among the core issues related to the Israel-Palestine conflict, as the Palestinians are hoping for an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Enditem
