Peru captain Guerrero kicked out of World Cup by doping case

GENEVA, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Peru captain Paolo Guerrero was banned by the world soccer governing body FIFA for one year as a result of a positive test for cocaine, forcing the 33-year-old to miss the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Guerrero tested positive for "cocaine metabolite benzoylecgonine" after a World Cup qualifying game in Argentina on Oct. 5.

The suspension will strat from Nov. 3

The Peru forward can appeal to FIFA, and later at the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Enditem
