1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close higher Friday

BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.55 percent, at 3,289.99 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.24 percent higher at 10,935.06 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.85 percent to close at 1,792.16 points.

Most shares rallied on the two bourses. Combined turnover on the two bourses stood at 378.2 billion yuan (57.3 billion U.S. dollars).

Retailers and 5G telecommunication companies led the gains. Yonghui Superstore Co., Ltd increased by the daily limit of 10 percent to 9.78 yuan. Great-sun Foods Co. Ltd rose nearly 10 percent to 21.7 yuan.

Gold producers and banks were among major losers. Bank of China fell 0.51 percent o 3.92 yuan. China CITIC Bank declined 0.78 percent to 6.35 yuan. Enditem
