Tokyo shares open higher on strong U.S. stocks, revised Japanese GDP data

TOKYO, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened higher Friday on Wall Street gains overnight as well as the revised data of Japan's July-September gross domestic product (GDP).

As of 9: 15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 187.33 points, or 0.83 percent, from Thursday to 22,685.36.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 7.29 points, or 0.41 percent, to 1,793.54.

Gainers were led by precision instrument, securities and rubber product issues. Enditem
