Xinhua,December 08, 2017 Adjust font size:

HOUSTON, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Three people including a gunman were dead after a shooting at a high school in the southwestern U.S. state of New Mexico on Thursday, law enforcement authorities said.

New Mexico State Police (NMSP) said via its Twitter account that two students and a suspect shooter died in the shooting at Aztec High School, about 290 km northwest of Albuquerque, capital city of New Mexico.

NMSP also said that officers were currently conducting security checks at the school in Aztec, the county seat of San Juan County in northwest New Mexico.

Police did not immediately report other injures. Earlier, local media cited a law enforcement official as saying that more than a dozen others were injured.

It's unclear how the shooter died or what the motive for the attack was.

San Juan County Sheriff's Office posted earlier on Facebook that the school has been evacuated. Enditem
