RABAT, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Embassy to Morocco warned Thursday American citizens of potential demonstrations in the country after U.S. President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel a day ago.

In a statement posted on its website, the embassy said the decision "may spark protests, some of which have the potential to become violent."

The embassy also reminded U.S. citizens of the need for caution and awareness of personal security, and to avoid areas of demonstrations.

Some Moroccan non-government organizations have called for a national rally on Sunday. Enditem
