BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edging down 0.18 percent to 3,303.68 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.45 percent lower at 10,854.75 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 2.18 percent to close at 1,758.59 points.

TOKYO -- Tokyo shares closed mixed Tuesday as gains from market expectations on the United States tax reform were offset by falls in technology shares tracking losses in Wall Street overnight.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 84.78 points, or 0.37 percent, from Monday at 22,622.38.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 4.10 points, or 0.23 percent, higher at 1,790.97.
The day's turnover was around 2,689.9 billion yen (23.89 billion U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 295.48 points, or 1.01 percent, to 28,842.8 points on Tuesday.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 28,838.12 and 29,124.24. Turnover totaled 101.90 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 13.04 billion U.S. dollars).

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) dropping 0.01 percent or 0.41 points to close at 3438.06.
A total of 1.74 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.07 million Singapore dollars (about 793.49 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 286 to 175.

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed flat on a negative note Tuesday as equity benchmarks remained under pressure after the Fitch Ratings lowered India's economic growth forecast for FY18.
The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 32,802.44, 67.28 points or 0.2 percent down compared to its previous close at 32,869.72.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh's DSE (Dhaka Stock Exchange) broad index closed Tuesday at 6,286.75 points, up 23.98 points from Monday's finish.
Total turnover decreased to about 6.49 billion taka (about 79 million U.S. dollars) on Tuesday from about about 6.87 billion taka (about 83.79 million U.S. dollars) on Monday.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Tuesday.
The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,724.84, up 11.71 points or 0.68 percent, and the Emas was at 12,395.39 up 35.57 points or 0.29 percent.
Turnover increase to 1.84 billion shares valued at 2.24 billion ringgit Malaysia (551.72 million U.S. dollars), compared with 1.80 billion shares valued at 2.57 billion ringgit Malaysia (629.90 million U.S. dollars) on Monday.

JAKARTA -- Indonesia shares closed higher by 2.27 points, or 0.04 percent, to a level of 6,000.47 on Tuesday.
Some 477,777 transactions were booked, involving 9.5 billion copies of shares with a value of 7.4 trillion rupiah (about 547.2 million U.S. Dollars).

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 113.23 points on Tuesday, down 3.48 points or 2.98 percent against the previous trading session.
