French shares gain 1.36 pct Monday

PARIS, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Monday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 1.36 percent, or 72.40 points, to close at 5,389.29 points.

38 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

French company producing ophthalmic lenses, Essilor Intl., advanced 4.74 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. European multinational aerospace and defence corporation Airbus Group rose 3.00 percent, and steel giant ArcelorMittal gained 2.90 percent.

French multinational food-product corporation Danone went down by 0.24 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French luxury goods holding company Kering lost 0.12 percent. Enditem
