Indian IT major Infosys appoints new top executive

Xinhua,December 04, 2017 Adjust font size:

NEW DELHI, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- India's second biggest outsourcer Infosys has appointed a new top executive, nearly four months after Vishal Sikka's abrupt resignation as CEO.

Salil S. Parekh will assume charge as CEO and managing director of Infosys with effect from January 2, 2018, the IT major has said in a statement.

Parekh will replace U.B. Pravin Rao, who took over as the Bengaluru-based company's interim CEO and managing director in August this year when Sikka left.

"The Board believes that he is the right person to lead Infosys at this transformative time in our industry," Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of the Infosys board, has said on Parekh's appointment.

Industry insiders said Monday that Parekh's appointment will help Infosys regain its old glory given that it's gone through a turbulent period following Sikka's resignation in August.

Parekh has nearly three decades of global experience in the IT services industry. He will be joining Infosys from French firm Capgemini.

Former CEO Sikka resigned in August in the wake of allegations pertaining to governance issues by company founder N.R. Narayana Murthy. Enditem
