AMMAN, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- The United States signed a deal with Jordan on Sunday to deliver 475 million U.S. dollars as part of its annual economic support to the Arab kingdom.

It is part of the 812.3-million-dollar annual financial support provided by the United States to Jordan.

The agreement was signed by Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury and Jim Barnhart, director of the U.S. Agency for International Development Mission (USAID).

USAID and Jordan have maintained a long-standing partnership aimed at supporting economic stability and strengthening democratic governance in Jordan, said the Jordanian ministry in a statement.

Bilateral trade between the two countries has increased by 800 percent following Jordan's accession to the World Trade Organization and the implementation of the U.S.-Jordan Free Trade Agreement.

The United States has provided economic aid to Jordan for more than 60 years. Enditem
