Xinhua,December 04, 2017 Adjust font size:

AMMAN, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Sunday condemned Israeli violations in Al Aqsa Mosque and the provocations against the worshippers in the holy site, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

Jordan's Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said breaking into the yards of Al Aqsa Mosque by Israeli radicals under the protection of the Israeli police is provocative.

He added that Jordan sent a letter of protest to the Israeli foreign ministry in this regard.

The minister added that such acts are irresponsible and provocative and condemned, noting that they represent a stark violation of the international humanitarian law and international conventions and accords.

He stressed on the need to respect places of worship, adding that such measures hamper efforts to reduce tension.

The minister added that allowing radicals to storm the yards of the mosque and seeking to alter the status quo in the city is rejected.

He called for the immediate cease of such measures and respecting Jordan's historic role in protecting the holy sites in the city. Enditem
