10 Syrian illegal migrants killed in Turkey's minibus-truck collision

ANKARA, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- A minibus smuggling illegal migrants from Syria to Turkey collided with a truck while trying to escape from gendarmerie checkpoint, killing 10 Syrian citizens and injuring 9 others, according to state-run Anadolu Agency.

The deadly accident happened in southeastern Hatay province in the afternoon after the driver did not follow stop order and try to evade from a checkpoint, not far from the Syrian frontier.

The minibus collided with a truck coming from opposite direction head-on-head, killing 6 children and 4 adults on board.

An investigation has been initiated into the accident.

Turkey hosts about 3.3 million Syrian refugees by November, according to the Foreign Ministry. Enditem
